Contract Description:
The scope of work and budget presented in this document describe the activities associated with the Coeur d'Alene Tribe's resident fish enhancement project for the Coeur d'Alene Subbasin corresponding to the two-year contract period June 1, 2024 to May 31, 2026. The work elements for this project are related to planning and coordination, construction and implementation, research and monitoring, and project administration. Total contract value is $4,379,441.

A list of spatially explicit projects was developed to address process-based objectives for each of the highest priority subbasins in the Benewah and Lake creek watersheds to meet the Coeur d'Alene Basin goal of restoring harvestable surpluses of naturally reproducing adfluvial adult cutthroat trout (Intermountain Province Subbasin Plan 2004; Firehammer et al. 2011). The prioritized subbasins encompass the distribution of adfluvial cutthroat within the target watersheds and the critical habitats used for spawning and early life stage rearing. The restoration actions included in this scope of work represent a subset of the ranked projects from this list and were identified based on the results of watershed assessments and long-term monitoring data collected as part of this BPA funded project.

Non-native fish suppression efforts, for northern pike in Coeur d'Alene Lake, and eastern brook trout in several tributary streams, continue to be important strategies to support recovery of target fisheries. Likewise, several new work elements focused on assessments of northern pike habitat use and the lake food web, are needed to inform adaptive management within the lake environment to improve vital rate metrics of adfluvial trout populations that support project goals and objectives.
